Family Fun - Favorite Germany and Europe Amusement and Theme Parks
Take the Family Out and Enjoy the Amusement and Theme Parks
By: Dan and Yollie Bunag
Wilkommen! We made this hub page as a follow on to the our previous page titled "Awesome Places to Visit in Germany". While this blog doesn't list all the amusement and theme parks in Germany and Europe, we've included the most popular ones in Germany. In addition, we included the Euro Disney Resort and Walibi Belgium because they're both within driving distance from Germany.
For tourists, military members and families visiting or living in Germany, no tour or vacation is complete without an occasional trip to the amusement or theme parks, especially if you have children. For convenience, the amusement and theme parks are located within driving distance or major cities and airports. You just need to decide whether to stay overnight or a few days to fully enjoy the parks while making it worth the travel, price of ticket admissions, and dining while there.
During our stay in Germany, we drove our conversion van everywhere. We brought a cooler and even a brought along a portable propane stove to save on dining out--very handy at rest areas and some parks. We toured our visiting friends and relatives to several of these amusement and theme parks after we've been there at least once.
So plan your trip, get up and go, and enjoy!
Europa Park - Germany's Largest Theme Park
Europa Park is Germany's largest theme park and is located in the town of Rust, near the border of France and the city of Freiburg. This theme park has something for everyone, different rides, unique shows, and attractions. You can bring a stroller and cooler, if you have them. Plan on arriving early to avoid long waits and enjoy the most popular rides. It's best to plan and see some shows or attractions between rides to get some rest, since you're probably going to be tired from the long drive.

Holiday Park
is one of Germany's most popular theme parks, located in the town of Hassloch. It is near the city of Speyer. This is the closest amusement park to the military communities of Darmstadt, Heidelberg, Mannheim, Ramstein, and Kaiserslautern. The park is not too big, so the rides are closer together. You won't have to walk very far in between rides, shows or attractions.
